Gürcan Özkan

Gürcan Özkan was born in Kırcaali, Bulgaria, and migrated to Türkiye with his family in 1972. He completed his primary, middle, and high school education in Istanbul, Adapazarı, and Istanbul-Kartal. During his high school years, he started working as a cartoonist for GIRGIR Magazine.

He excelled in the Graphic Arts Department of the former Tatbiki Fine Arts High School, now known as Marmara University Faculty of Fine Arts, where he focused on illustration as an elective course. During his student years, he worked as an Art Director and Illustrator at Radar Advertising. Since 1985, he has been working as a freelance illustrator for various institutions and agencies.

In 1986, he became one of the founders of Leman Magazine. From 1991 onwards, he created covers and cartoons for HIBIR Magazine, İletişim Publications, Nokta Magazine, Ekonomik Panorama, LİMON Magazine, and Tempo Magazine.

He taught Illustration courses for 2 years at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Graphic Department. He also gave seminars at Kadir Has University and Doğuş University and taught Graphic Design and Computer-Aided Design courses at Bilgi University and Yeditepe University.

Gürcan Özkan served as a digital artist during the Turkish launch of Bilkom Digital's "Wacom" Intuos 4 tablet. Since 1993, he has been creating computer-aided illustrations, primarily for advertising agencies. His work includes character design, storyboards, concept boards, illustrations, and photo manipulations. He continues his work as a freelance illustrator and designer.
