Sedat Girgin

Born in Istanbul in 1985, Girgin graduated from Istanbul Anadolu Fine Arts High School, followed by completing his studies in Industrial Product Design at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. He has illustrated more than 90 books for various publishers and worked as a freelance illustrator for magazines and agencies. In 2007, he received the third prize in Tudem Kitap Yap's competition for the book "Karıncanın Kardeşi" (Ant's Sibling), which was later translated into German. In 2010, he won the first prize in the Art Vespa design competition. He became the cover illustrator for The Guide Istanbul magazine in 2014.

His illustrated book "Tembel Balık Sefa" (Lazy Fish Sefa) was selected for the White Ravens 2015 catalog by the International Youth Library (Internationale Jugendbibliothek). His book illustrations were also chosen for the Bratislava Illustration Biennial and the Izmir Ege University Museum of Children's Book Illustrators, where his works were exhibited. In 2018, Girgin was nominated for the Hans Christian Andersen Awards.

As an artist, Girgin has participated in numerous group exhibitions and seminars both domestically and internationally. He has organized workshops and served as a jury member for various events. His first solo exhibition, "Hayretler Sirki," was held in 2013, followed by "Keçilerle Kaçarken" in 2017, "Daha da" in 2018, and "Abartılar Diyarı" in 2020. Sedat Girgin continues his artistic endeavors in Istanbul.
